Besigye Returns To Court

Forum for Democratic Change leader Dr. Kizza Besigye is today expected to return to court over charges relating to the walk to work protests.

Dr Besigye faces charges of holding unlawful assembly and the case is set for mention at the Nabweru magistrate court today.

On Monday this week, Besigye appeared before the Kasanagati Magistrate’s court on similar charges and the case was adjourned until July 13th after the state prosecutor asked for more time to wind up investigations.

The walk to work campaign was launched nearly two months ago by the Activists for Change, a pressure group that intended to pressurize government to address the sky rocketing food and fuel prices.

The resultant protests that rocked the city and other parts of the country left at least 10 people dead,  scores injured while several others are still battling with court cases.
