ARREST GONE WRONG: Policeman survives snake bite

Police officers attached to Kasese central police station on Friday survived death after suspected witch doctors threw a snake at them protesting their arrest.

The officers had gone to arrest the four suspects after a student reported that he had been conned of        Shs. 800, 000.

However, the suspects threw a snake at the policemen and two of them took off, leaving the police officers to plead with the remaining two to remove the snake.

The two suspects were later arrested and the snake confiscated. Police say they also recovered Shs.500,000 which they have given back to the victim.

The suspects have been charged with being in possession of wildlife protected species under the UWA Act but the second charge of obtaining money by false pretense has been dropped.
