Accident death toll hits seven

The death toll from yesterday’s grisly accident has hit seven.

This is after one of the victims admitted at Mulago national referral hospital died this morning.

The hospital spokesperson Dan Kimosho says Martin Okwela died shortly after surgery.

He says that four of the victims have so far been discharged, while four others are still admitted and are receiving treatment.

Three of these were discharged yesterday while one Federance Bukare, a teacher at Jinja Senior Secondary School was discharged this morning.

The accident that happened yesterday at Namanve along the Kampala-Jinja highway involved a trailer truck and a commuter taxi that was carrying 16 passengers.

According to Kampala East Regional Police Commander, Moses Muluya four people died on spot while the injured were rushed to Mulago hospital.
