5 Year Australian – African exchange comes to an end

The five year Australian- African Community Exchange System project that has been providing basic services for the marginalized women in Uganda ends in July this year.

The project has been targeting areas of food security, maternal health and promoting human rights for the women in the districts of Kitgum, Kumi, Katakwi, Lira, Kampala, Bukedea, Nwoya and Amuru.

Action Aid head of policy and campaigns, Fredrick Kawooya says over 60% women farmers, the disabled and youth have received ox ploughs and through the income diversification initiative, many have become self- sufficient.

Ministry of Water and Environment Commissioner, Chebet Kuwat has commended the Australian Aid and asked for their continued support.
