Following a directive by the Kampala metropolitan police commandant to apprehend all commercial cyclists, the police in Wandegeya have launched a massive operation.
Over 100 motorcycles have been impounded today.
Speaking to KFM, the Wandegeya DPC Julius Tusingwire said that the operation that targets both cyclists and passengers is intended to reduce accidents that result from over loading.
According to the new regulations, those caught carrying more than one person are liable to a fine of
Sh.200,000 or 2 years in jail.
