President Museveni preaches against circumcision

Circumcision should not be used as a sole preventive measure against HIV/AIDS.

President Yoweri Museveni has warned that reliance on circumcision as a tool to fight the virus may backfire on the country.

Museveni, while speaking at the main celebrations to mark World AIDS day in Fort Portal, Museveni said messages that circumcision greatly reduces chances of contracting the virus should be discouraged.

He says there should be concerted efforts to encourage young people especially to test for their HIV status and avoid unprotected sex.
