Health workers’ strike enters day two

health workers strike

Its day two of the strike by health workers at all KCCA health centers in Kampala.

The workers have once again turned away patients saying that until their salaries are cleared, they will not get back to work.

At Kisenyi Health Center II, the workers have reported to work but continue to ignore patients. As was the case yesterday, expectant mothers have been most affected.

At Kawaala and Kiswa Health Centers, hundreds of patients are also being being turned away.

Yesterday KCCA promised that the salaries will be made available by close of business but this is yet to happen.

In a related development, the teachers too have joined the health workers in demanding for their unpaid salaries.

Currently, the teachers are attending a meeting with KCCA officials at City hall meant to resolve the stand off.

The workers are demanding for three months salary, a situation the city authority has blamed on the clean up of the pay roll.
