Door-to-door Polio immunisation campaign kicks off

Ministry of Health officials have today started a door-to-door immunization exercise against polio.

The three -day country wide exercise supported by the World Health Organisation runs until Monday.

The ministry’s Public Relations Officer Rukia Nakamatte says the health workers are working closely with village health teams targeting all children below the age of five.

Nakamatte says polio is still a killer disease and can only be prevented through immunization.

Meanwhile, Kamuli Resident District Commissioner has asked district civil servants to rally residents in their respective areas to take part in the ongoing polio immunization campaign of children below the age of 5.
