Uganda’s commonwealth team returns today

By Ritah Kemigisa. The team that represented Uganda at the 2018 Gold Coast common wealth games in Australia returns today. The Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni is expected to receive this team at Entebbe International Airport. According to officials, the first batch will arrive at 1:50 PM aboard an emirates flight while the second which will be carrying the Golden Boy Joshua Cheptegei will arrive at around 2:30PM. However it has been revealed that two of the athletes; Irene Kasubo and KalidiBatuusa who were part of the 69 man team will not be part of this team travelling back home as they allegedly vanished. Cheptegei wins third gold for Uganda

Joshua Cheptegei this afternoon won his second gold and third for Uganda in the athletics 10,000 M final at the common wealth games in Australia after running for a time period of 27:19 seconds. His victory comes five days after winning gold in the men’s 5000m final, where he beat Canada’s Mohammed Ahmed and Edward Zakayo of Kenya. This makes Cheptegei   the second man in the Ugandan history to win double gold at the same Commonwealth Games. FUFA clears Micho’s arrears

By Ritah Kemigisa. The Federation of Uganda Football Associations has revealed that it has cleared all the salary arrears it owed former national coach, Milutin ‘Micho’Sredojevic. Micho terminated his contract on July 29th 2017 because of the accumulated debt of Shs 194 million that the federation had been struggling to pay. According to the FUFA president Moses Magogo, the federation managed to settle Micho’s arrears after receiving 20,000 USD from government, 34,000USD was got from their reserves. Before his departure Micho had led the Uganda Cranes to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of nations for the first time in 38 years. He is now the head coach of Orlando Pirates Football Club in South Africa.

Museveni – Uganda will soon qualify for World Cup

By Samuel Ssebuliba. President Yoweri Museveni is optimistic that Uganda will soon qualify to the World Cup finals. While receiving the 2018 FIFA World Cup trophy at State House Entebbe this afternoon, the president said that although Uganda did not qualify in 2017, it still has potential to challenge other countries. He says that this is a rare opportunity which also shows that Federation of International Football Association recognizes Uganda’s footballing abilities. World cup trophy arrives today

By Ritah Kemigisa. The World cup trophy which is the most prestigious award in the globe will arrive in Uganda today from South Africa. It will be taken to state house Entebbe for presidential blessings and then on March 6th for public viewing at Lugogo cricket oval grounds. For the second time in 9 years, the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) World Cup original trophy will be in the Uganda. People will be given the chance to take selfies and have a photo moment with it but not to touch it. It is only the president that is allowed to touch the trophy.
