Cranes ready for the Lone Stars

Cranes Coach Bobby Williamson is travelling to Monrovia with a confident team. Cranes midfielder Mike Mutyaba believes he is ready for another challenge. Uganda faces the Lone Stars of Liberia in a 2014 World Cup qualifier on Sunday. The TP Mazembe player earned a recall to the national side having been left out of the just ended 2013 Afcon qualifiers due to injury. Emma Okwi confident about the Monrovia game

Uganda Cranes striker Emma Okwi is confident the team can play beyond expectation against Liberia. The 2014 world cup qualifier clash is slated for Sunday March 24th in Monrovia, Liberia. Okwi alongside Dan Ssentongo and Geoffrey Massa will be the players responsible for searching for the goals. The Etoile Du Sahel player says he will do his best to score the goals though he knows little about the Lone Star. Togo faces Ivory coast in AFCON

Togo and  Tottenham Hotspur’s Emmanuel Adebayor tries to settle a score with ex-Chelsea striker Didier Drogba when Togo face Ivory Coast at the sweltering African Nations Cup on Tuesday. Two of Africa’s most successful players have been rivals for years and Adebayor is hoping his Togo side will put Drogba’s Ivory Coast to the sword in their opening Group D. Eritrean players seek refugee status

The 18 Eritrean soccer players who had gone missing since Monday this week have this afternoon showed up at the Disaster Preparedness Ministry seeking for asylum. The players were in the country to take part in the ongoing CECAFA Tusker tournament but later disappeared from their camp under unclear circumstances. Only 7 out of the 25-member Eritrean delegation returned to Asmara yesterday, after the team was eliminated from the  tournament. 17 players and one team doctor vanished on Monday leaving behind the head coach and his assistant, the goal keeper trainer, two players and two accompanying officials. Police mounts hunt for Eritrean footballers

Only 7 out of the 25 members of the Eritrean delegation showed up today at Entebbe International Airport for the return flight to Asmara. This is after the team was eliminated out of the on-going Cecafa tournament. 17 players and one team doctor vanished yesterday leaving behind only the head coach Ngash Teklit and his Assistant, the trainer of the goalkeepers, two players and two accompanying officials. The FUFA Travel Officer Decolas Kiiza says only the 7 boarded NAS airlines and they have contacted security operatives to try and locate the whereabouts of the remaining players and the team doctor.
