Canada, Mexico & United States pip Morocco to host The 2026 World Cup 

The 2026 World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico after their joint bid beat Morocco’s proposal to host it. The ‘United 2026’ bid was selected by Fifa member nations, winning 134 votes compared to 65 for Morocco. The 2026 tournament will be the biggest World Cup ever held – with 48 teams playing 80 matches over 34 days. Of the 211 Fifa member nations, 200 cast a vote at the 68th Fifa Congress in Moscow on Wednesday, with the winning bid needing a majority of 104. Canada, Mexico, Morocco and the US were exempt, while Ghana was absent after the country’s government said it had disbanded its football association amid allegations of “widespread” corruption. URA appoints Sam Ssimbwa as head coach

By Ritah Kemigisa. Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Football club has today appointed Sam Ssimbwa as the clubs head coach and awarded him a three year contract. According to the authority’s director of communication Ian Rumanyika the club is hopeful that Ssimbwa will lead them to the top. Ssimbwa officially replaces Paul Nkata who resigned on 24th April 2018. He will be assisted by Robert Mukasa and the former club legend Augustine Nsumba and Steven Kiggundu will be the club’s goal keeper’s strategist. Prior to his appointment, Ssimbwa was head coach of Soana FC, Express FC, SC Vila and the Rwandan Police.

KCCA FC hosts Egypt’s Al Ahly in historic CAF Champions’ league game today

Uganda’s representatives in the CAF Champions’ league group stage, KCCA FC will today take on Egyptian giants Al Ahly at the Mandela National Stadium at Namboole stadium in the first ever Caf Champions League group stage match to be played on Ugandan soil. Liverpool’s Salah named Premier League Player of the Season

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has won yet another award today when he was named the Premier League’s Player of the Season. The 25-year-old Egypt international has scored 31 goals in 37 league matches in his first season since signing from Roma for £34m. He will beat the record of 31 goals in a 38-game season if he scores against Brighton on Sunday. Salah also won the PFA Player of the Year and Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year awards. Salah, who had an unsuccessful spell at Chelsea from 2014 to 2016, has scored 43 goals in 50 games in all competitions for Liverpool.    

Parliament to honor Commonwealth team
