Uganda Cranes & Captain Onyango nominated for 2018 CAF awards

The Cranes who attained qualification to the 2019 AFCON finals with a game to spare have been listed along with Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritania and Zimbabwe in the Category. Uganda referee appointed to CAF

By Ritah Kemigisa. Uganda’s top ranked FIFA beach soccer referee Ivan Kintu Bayige has been appointed by CAF to officiate at the 2019 AFCON Beach soccer finals   in Egypt from 8th-14th December 2018. Bayige will appear at the AFCON Beach Soccer finals for the 2nd time having landed his maiden show in 2016 when he officiated at the finals in Nigeria. Meanwhile FIFA referees William Oloya will handle the CAF Confederation Cup match between Malawi’s Silver Strikers and Association Omni sport Center Mberi Sport if of Gabon. He was appointed together with Okello Dick and Okello Lee as the 1st and 2nd assistants respectively.  

Government rewards Uganda cranes with a 3.7 billion qualification bonus

By Ssebuliba Samuel Following the qualification of Uganda to play in African cup of Nations, the government has already rewarded players and managers with qualification bonus worth 3.7 billion. Speaking to media today the president FUFA Moses Magogo said that government has showed its support to the national team and this has been exhibited by endless support to the team. He said that immediately upon winning, one million dollar was disbursed to the team and beneficiaries have been paid . Uganda qualified for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after beating Cape Verde 1-0 in Kampala on Saturday.

Upgrade of Entebbe airport on course

BY TOM BRIAN ANGURINI. The upgrading of Entebbe international airport is on course after first phase of works in different departments are in a state of near completion. This information was revealed to KFM by minister of works and transport Azuba Ntege. She says works for rehabilitation and strengthening of old runway 12-30 commenced May 2018 and is expected to be completed by end of this year. The works are undertaken by China communication Construction Company which is also handling the on-going construction of a new 100,000 ton capacity cargo center.
