2Terror suspects plead guilty

Two suspects have today pleaded guilty to charges arising from the July 11th bomb blasts. Edris Nsubuga has pleaded guilty to charges of terrorism, while Mugisha Mohammod pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to committing acts of terrorism. Edris Nsubuga had earlier confessed to committing the act before the police and also made an extra judicial statement before court. Nsubuga however pleaded not guilty to charges of murder but repeatedly accepted the charge of terrorism when asked. He told court that he denied the same charges yesterday following intimidation from fellow suspects, adding that he filed a complaint with the prisons officials. Suspected suicide case at Mulago Hospital

A body of a man was this morning recovered in a septic tank at Mulago hospital, in a suspected case of suicide. The man whose identity has not yet been identified is reported to have been a patient at Mulago Hospital. Some of the patients claim that he attempted to throw himself into the tank yesterday but was restrained before changing location and throwing himself in another. The officer in charge of the Mulago Hospital Police PostĀ  Ben Omony says the deceased did not have any documents or phone on him though his body had needles used for drips in hospitals. 4 injured in accident

Four people have sustained serious injuries after a truck rammed into several other vehicles near Bwaise, a Kampala suburb. The Kawempe DPC Moses Ochieng says the injured that are yet to be identified have been rushed to Mulago hospital in critical condition. He says the driver of the Fuso truck registration number UAF 713M that was headed to Bwaise from Kawempe lost controlĀ  knocking a taxi before ramming into a string of nine other vehicles near Tuff Form factory. He says the truck then knocked a Kerosene pump at Petrol Fuel Station before it came to a halt. Ochieng adds that they are still hunting for the truck driver who is on the run.

Terror suspects trial adjourned

The trial of the 14 suspects held over the July 11th bomb blasts has been adjourned to tommorrow. Three counts of terrorism and 76 counts on the murder charge were read to them today and they all pleaded not guilty. The plea taking on the charge of attempted murder was however not concluded today and will continue tommorrow morning for 6 of the suspects. The plea taking is quite lenghthy with translators for Luganda, Swahili and Somali languages. Edris Nsubuga, who earlier made a public confession to the planning and execution of the attacks repeated the same in court today but added that he did not intend it. Bulding collapses, 4 injured

A building under construction has this afternoon collapsed in Namungona, a Kampala suburb. The 3-storied flat is located near Total Petrol Station. The chief fire officer Simon Musoke says all the people that were trapped inside escaped though 4 of them sustained serious injuries.
