The Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi 11 has been dragged to the High court -Civil division over his newly launched scheme of “Ekyapa mu ngalo” which is translated as Tittle in the Hand for any occupant on the Buganda land who purchases a 49 year old lease. Kabaka’s accuser is his subject Male Mabirizi Kiwanuka, a lawyer by profession who has since filed a series of cases against his kingdom challenging its land scheme. Court asked to acquit Kananura as judgment date is set

By Ruth Anderah The High Court in Kampala has set April 25th 2017 to deliver a Judgment in a murder case against car Rally driver Desh Andrew Kananura and 4 co-accused persons. This after two Court Assessors Rehema Babirye and Robert Kabuleeta asked Justice Joseph Murangira to acquit Kananura with his co accused. The two assessors in their joint decision have informed court that although Prosecution managed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Badru Kateregga was killed in unlawful death they failed to prove that all the 5 accused persons participated in his murder. Norbert Mao to Museveni “clear the air, is there dialogue between you and Besigye?”

Speaking to Kfm, the DP president Norbert Mao says media reports about Museveni- Besigye talks do not constitute a national dialogue and says there should be a genuine agenda for a national dialogue. Sim card registration deadline extended to May 19th.

By Damali Mukhaye Government has directed the Uganda Communications Commission to extend the deadline for the sim card re-registration exercise up to May 19th.   In a letter dated April 19th addressed to the UCC boss Godfrey Mutabazi, the Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda says government has reviewed the timelines and taken a decision to have the ongoing sim card verification exercise extended to 19th May 2017. UCC had earlier directed all telecommunications service providers to verify all their subscribers’ sim card details using National IDs within 7 days, saying that all those whose details will not have been updated by tomorrow would have their sim cards deactivated.
