MUK dismisses 15 students who forged diploma academic transcripts

Makerere University has dismissed 15 students who forged diploma academic transcripts to gain admission to the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Pharmacy. Those who were dismissed include 13 first-year Medicine students and 2 pharmacy students all from the college of health sciences. On the 9th of march, the academic registrar, Alfred Masikye Namoah, wrote letters to each of the those students inviting them to appear before the ad hoc committee in the Senate building to defend themselves before the university could take a decision. Only 11 students appeared before the committee but their defense was so shallow and a committee on Wednesday last week decided to dismiss the students from the university. …

Kataha Museveni once again calls for parents to pack food for their school going children.

The minister made the call during Easter Prayers in Ntungamo district yesterday; urging parents to take center stage in their children’s learning outcomes. Although the First Lady has in the recent past faced open criticism from sections of politicians and activist as being arrogant, she maintains that feeding is the ultimate responsibility of parents. She has also challenged parents to live by the religious teachings and heed to their role as custodians of God’s Children, warning that starving a child might attract unknown repercussions from God.

Museveni orders for the immediate removal of eucalyptus trees in all wetlands

By Moses Kyeyune President Yoweri Museveni has ordered for the immediate removal of eucalyptus trees in all wetlands as a measure towards nature conservation. The president has also asked people operating fish ponds in swamps to abandon the practice saying that such activities are disastrous and threaten human survival in the near future. The president’s directive was issued during Easter Sunday prayers at St Mathew Cathedral -Kyamate Ntungamo district. He says that wetlands should be conserved to enable availability of water that will be used to support irrigation and other modern farming activities. If adopted, the directive will see to an immediate closure of commercial tree projects and fish ponds operating in swamps across the country.
