Age limit: FDC’s Muntu takes consultations to Fortportal

Court of Appeal upholds Jamwa’s 12-year jail term

By Ruth Anderah The Court of Appeal has upheld a 12-year jail term handed by the Anti- Corruption Court to former National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Managing Director David Chandi Jamwa. Three justices ruled that the trial judge John Bosco Katutsi properly evaluated the evidence and reached the right conclusion. In a judgment read by Justice Kenneth Kakuru, the Court of Appeal judges have ruled that Jamwa was well aware that selling government treasury bonds to the now defunct Crane Bank before their maturity dates would cause financial loss to his employer but instead went ahead to authorize the same. MPs to grill Kasaija over omissions in the 2018/19 Budget Frame Work Paper

This is after members of the committee on the Gender and Equity Budgeting headed by Safia Nalule established that the Draft Budget document was submitted to Parliament without the Certificate of Gender and Equity Compliance as required by the Public Finance Management Act. The MPs have also established that there are budget cuts in critical areas such as education, health and agriculture in the face of high poverty levels. FDC attack Muntu over age limit consultations

The opposition forum for Democratic change have disowned the nationwide age limit consultations launched this morning by former president Gen Mugisha Muntu for not notifying the party leadership. The meetings have kicked off in Hoima district under the theme; “country before self,” the campaigns are aimed at creating a new wave for political change. However, addressing journalists at the party headquarters in Najjanakumbi earlier, the spokesperson of the FDC Women’s League Sarah Eperu said Muntu did not officially inform the party about his consultations. Eperu adds that the party president Patrick Amuriat is also conducting consultations and so it was necessary for Muntu to hand over his program to the party headquarters for harmonization and support.
