Uganda not ready for nuclear energy

Uganda cannot generate Nuclear energy in the short term.

In his state of the nation address president last week, President Yoweri Museveni said Uganda should prepare for the option of nuclear energy as an alternative to the costly hydro-electricity and solar energy.

However, Economist Fred Muhumuza says despite being cheap, nuclear energy requires a lot of investment and highly skilled man power which the country lacks at the moment.

He says Uganda also risks international isolation and monitoring if it starts the generation of the nuclear power
