Private health sector funding crucial

Financial support to the private health sector has been neglected, according to the United States Agency for International Aid (USAID).

Addressing a joint news conference in Kampala this morning, Officials from Eco Bank and USAID said  financial institutions should provide funding to the health sector to enable it to grow.

USAID’s Chief of Party on the Uganda Private Health Support programme, Dr. Kiragga Dithan says most health institutions have been left out in favour of business entities, yet they are able to invest in the economy.

Dr. Kiragga says in partnership with Eco Bank, they are to invest 15 billion shillings over a 7 year period in which private health care providers will access credit to boost their businesses.
