KIsekka Market vendors win

For defying court orders, Kisekka market leaders are digging deep into their pockets

High court judge Lydia Mugambe has directed the leaders to pay 55 million shillings to vendors and in fines for going on to demolish the market despite an order stopping the same.

Justice Mugambe said the leaders disobeyed court that had ordered that the demolition is stayed until the main suit is settled.

The leaders will pay 25 million shillings to the vendors whose shops were demolished and 30 million shillings in court fines

However justice Mugambe Okayed the reconstruction of the market for development.

A section of vendors rushed to court seeking orders staying the demolition of the market until issues of ownership and stall sharing are resolved.
