FDC rubbish IPOD resolutions

By Damali Mukhaye. The opposition Forum for Democratic Change has rubbished the resolutions from last week’s Inter Party Organization for Dialogue summit saying they are not binding. Addressing journalists at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi, the FDC deputy Secretary General Harold Kaija said the resolutions taken during the meeting are null and void due to the absence of their party president Patrick Amuriat Oboi. COSASE directs BoU officials to account Shs 478bn crane bank bailout cash

Parliament’s Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises has tasked officials from the Central Bank to account for 478 billion Shillings liquidity support that Crane bank had invested before it was placed under receivership. The directive has been issued by the Committee chairperson, also Bugweri County MP Abdu Katuntu during an interface with BoU officials this afternoon. Explanations are required by Wednesday and according to Katuntu, the committee wants to ascertain whether the money fulfilled its purpose. On the spot is former Crane Bank Statutory Manager KatimboMugwanya who last week told the committee that he did not hand over any progress report on his duties in Crane Bank. Bagyenda son plea bargain fails

By Ruth Anderah. Prosecution in the murder case against the son of ISO director Col. Kaka Bagyenda has revealed that the plea bargaining deal with the suspect has failed. Today both parties were meant to inform court about the progress of their discussions but instead prosecution’s Joseph Kyomuhendo informed court that the negotiations have failed and asked for a full trial. On the 12th of December, Bagyende with his  lawyer  Nsubuga Mubiru  asked High court judge Anthony Ojok Oyuko to allow him plead guilty to the charges of murdering his girlfriend Enid Twijukye in exchange of a lighter  sentence. Music Promoters to Petition Speaker

By Ivan Ssenabulya. Music promoters are set to petition the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga protesting the move by police to block all Bobi Wine’s concerts during the festive season. According to Kyadondo East MP also known as Bobi Wine, police banned all his planned concerts, without a clear explanation. Promoters under their umbrella Uganda Music Promoters and Venue Owners’ Network notified the speaker about the petition to be presented tomorrow. Speaking to KFM, the association’s coordinator Tony Ssempijja said they are meeting today to finalize their arrangements. KACITA wants enforcement to rid the city streets of vendors strengthened

This comes days after the minister for Kampala Betty Kamya banned street vending, directing all vendors off the streets this festive season. Speaking to KFM, the Association’s chairman Everest Kayondo said continued presence of street vendors affects operations of the shop owners especially during the festive season.
